Bowling Green FC found themselves in their first ever national playoff game on Saturday July 10th taking on Moros FC. This RD of 32 match pitted the Mid-South Conference winners vs the Mid-Atlantic Conference champs in Atlanta, GA at the Atlanta Silverbacks Stadium.

Moros FC started the quicker of the two teams, imposing themselves within the match almost instantly the first few minutes. Moros FC tested the Golden Lions defense all day and BGFC needed goalkeeper Oliver Gonzalez to come up big if they were looking to advance past their Mid-Atlantic opponents. Despite Moros FC starting the brighter of the two it was BGFC that got on the scoresheet first from a fantastic team goal in the 25th minute. It was a lovely build up that started from the goalkeeper in the back through the thirds of the field, with a total of 12 consecutive passes, that saw Benjamin Mujcic slot one home from close range after some quick combination play in and around the penalty area. 6 minutes later the Golden Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead off a quick counter attack. Forward Dylan Barth was played through from a brilliant outside the boot pass from maestro Jansen Wilson, Barth was able to hold off the jockeying opposition centre back and chip the ball over the reach of the goalkeeper off the post and into the back of the net. The score as the match came to halftime was 2-0 in favor of BGFC.

Down 2-0 Moros FC needed to respond in order to keep themselves alive in the game and they would get their much needed goal in the 54th minute after a solid combination play between two players top box saw the ball chipped in over BGFC's back line to a Moros player who was able to get a solid contact on the cross slotting it past the Golden Lions goalkeeper, 2-1. With the pressure mounting BGFC was able to put a third on the scoresheet in the 70' minute with a Peyton Netherton curling strike from just inside the box, a beauty of a finish, 3-1. Goals were in store in the final twenty minutes of the match as the 77th minute saw Moros FC score once again from close range on a tap in after Oliver Gonzalez wasn't able to hold onto a long range strike from 25 yards out, 3-2. This wouldn't faze BGFC at all, as two minutes later in the 79th minute it was Jansen Wilson who caught the Moros goalkeeper far off his line and manage to produce a worldie of a 30 yard strike giving BGFC a 2 goal advantage once again. Bowling Green was able to withstand Moros long enough to come out with the win, but not before Moros FC made it interesting once more in the final few minutes of the game bringing the score to 4-3 in the 89th minute off a scrambled BGFC clearance.

Bowling Green FC ultimately came out deserving 4-3 winners over Moros FC, due in large part to the performance of shot stopper Oliver Gonzalez who seemed to have had a Tim Howard World Cup 2014 aura about him on the day.

BGFC now travels to face GA Conference winners, Kalonji Pro-Profile, on Saturday July 10th in Augusta, GA in the UPSL National Playoffs RD of 16.
