Sunday night at The Pit saw a hotly contested matchup between Mid-South contenders BGFC and last season's conference champs AFC 615. AFC 615 started the match sharper between the two sides taking the lead within the first 5 minutes off a counter attack. The Golden Lions then responded to AFC's speed with a goal of their own just before halftime from a Fahrudin Dervisevic equalizer as both teams went into the break level at 1-1.

BGFC were able to adjust and came out flying after halftime, dictating the majority of the second half with their dominating play. However, it wouldn't be till late in the game with 10 minutes remaining that the Golden Lions would go ahead. Off a corner on the right side Anatoli Gishe swung in a ball back post that was headed down by Peyton Netherton into the path of debutant Will Newton to put BGFC 2-1 up.

A third goal and the deciding strike came 8 minutes later. A set piece taken quickly saw Sein Win play Will Newton onto goal 1v1 with the AFC 615 keeper. After a great low diving save was produced from a Newton strike, substitute striker Brandon Ballard was able to follow in the rebound for his first goal of the season. AFC 615 was able to make things uncomfortable for the Golden Lions as straight from the kickoff BGFC gave up a penalty which was then slotted home by the Nashville-based side, 3-2. Little more than a consolation for AFC with just under 3 minutes left to spare.

The match finished 3-2 in favor of Bowling Green FC, who now sit solely in first place on top of the Mid-South Conference with a record of 4-0-0.

The Golden Lions will now be on the road traveling to Saints FC on Friday night at 7:00PM. Continue to catch your Bowling Green FC Golden Lions in action on the UPSL's league platform, MyCujoo!
